Does your breakfast make you amazing?
Last night I got a little emotional over a TV commercial… I know, I know… L-A-M-E-LAME. Yes, I’ll admit it, it’s happened before (that ASPCA spot with the Sarah McLachlan song gets me every time, gosh darn it!), but my dry, cynical personality usually keeps me in the clear. However, as someone who fuels up with old fashion oatmeal everyday, how can I not be inspired by the great new campaign by Quaker — “Does your breakfast make you amazing?” After all, on a good day, I think my breakfast makes me amazing (or at least somewhat-peppy and competent)… and on a bad day, I just blame the weather or weak coffee.
In an interview with AdWeek last week, Quaker CMO Kristen Lynch credited the current “cultural context” of brand awareness and the consumer’s perception of Quaker’s “realness and authenticity” as driving factors for the inspirational tone of the new campaign. I think they nailed it.
The commercial is so new that I can’t find a clip online; however, check out the link above to learn about the spot and the other campaign channels. And keep your eyes out for the commercial — I won’t blame you if you reach for the tissues.
