When Newsweek cited Grand Rapids, MI as one of America’s Dying Cities, passionate locals voiced their disdain for the title by listing the many ways GR is still very much alive… and going so far to create an awesome lipdub viewed by over 2 million YouTubers.  Hipmunk blog was inspired by the outpouring of support and launched a crowd-sourced travel guide, which highlights the unexpected and vibrant corners of this somewhat forgotten city. Similar to Wikitravel focused through a smaller lens, the Hipmunk Insider’s Guide encourages visitors to do as the local Grand Rapidians do — by sight and sound, gallery and plate.
