Great Energy Escape Room Mobile Tour
Masterfully Created Energy Education
PSE&G partnered with Jack Morton to create a dynamic mobile tour designed to educate and energize customers around residential energy efficiency programs, rebates, and cost-saving solutions. The goal was not only to inform, but to inspire immediate action—building excitement around saving energy while reinforcing the value of PSE&G’s broader energy efficiency program offerings. Deployed across outdoor locations throughout New Jersey in 2024 with additional activations planned for 2026, the experience needed to be engaging, portable, and impactful. In collaboration with ICF, Jack Morton developed an immersive, escape-room-style activation housed within a fully furnished 53-foot mobile trailer.
Inside, participants entered a realistic home setting where teams raced against the clock to solve puzzles and uncover practical energy-saving tips across living, kitchen, office, and utility spaces. Featuring 12 digital and analog puzzles—including digital puzzles embedded in a faux window and picture frame, alongside hands-on clues hidden in lamps, appliances, and even a stack of faux toast—the experience delivered fast-paced, non-linear gameplay that maximized both engagement and education. Two identical escape rooms operated simultaneously to optimize flow, blending entertainment with actionable learnings and leaving guests empowered with real-world tools to reduce their energy use.
THE IMPACT
The escape room mobile tour experience successfully engaged numerous customers across New Jersey, exceeding the team’s expectations. By combining fun and education, the interactive format effectively conveyed PSE&G’s energy efficiency message. Participants were thrilled, and the activation boosted PSE&G as a trusted energy adviser with unique offerings to help customers better manage energy in their homes.
Spanning 17 street fairs and festivals in 2024 and 2025, The Great Energy Escape mobile tour delivered impressive results:
- 1,828 escape room participants
- 42% engagement rate
- 79 leads generated and 67 onsite program signups completed
- 91% of participants planned to apply what they learned at home
Based on its success and overwhelmingly positive customer feedback, the activation has been extended through 2026 as a key marketing outreach initiative.
“The [Jack Morton] team has done an AMAZING job bringing this concept to life! The whole setup is impressive, inside the rooms and out, and I’m certain our customers will enjoy this and learn a lot and hopefully participate and promote our clean energy offerings! Thanks again, and INCREDIBLE job to the whole team!”
