International Builders’ Show
Making the Invisible Visible
At the International Builders’ Show, Rockwool set out to do more than display insulation—they wanted to prove its performance. Because stone wool insulation is typically hidden within walls, ceilings, and floors, the challenge was to make its unseen benefits tangible. Rockwool’s vision was to demonstrate how its solutions perform across every part of a home, from basement to roofline, by creating an environment where builders and contractors could experience the technology firsthand rather than simply hearing about it.
Jack Morton brought this vision to life with a dramatic 3,000-square-foot exhibit built as a full-scale exploded view of a house, revealing the hidden layers of a residential structure. Visitors explored Rockwool installations across wall assemblies, roof systems, below-grade insulation, and acoustic applications, while interactive demonstrations allowed them to test performance against fire, water, and vapor. A double-deck structure featured a presentation theater and the standout “Hush Hallway,” where attendees stepped from the noisy show floor into near silence—experiencing the impact of Rockwool’s soundproofing instantly. With raw wood framing and authentic construction cues, the exhibit blurred the line between homebuilding and storytelling, transforming a technical product into a powerful, hands-on brand experience.
THE IMPACT
Rockwool didn’t just meet expectations, they redefined them. The exhibit surpassed targets for badge scans and sales leads, proving that when people experience innovation firsthand, they remember it.
“IBS was extremely successful, and the booth exceeded all of our expectations!”
By building an experience that literally opened up the walls, Rockwool and Jack Morton turned a trade show exhibit into a hands-on education in innovation—and a powerful reminder that sometimes the best way to tell your story is to build it in real life.
