Photochromic Teleportal

Beam me up, Scotty. Transporting eye care professionals into the patient’s world.

Photochromic Teleportal

Using a mix of video, music and vibration, we transported optometrists to different destinations to educate them on the product’s three major benefits.

ACUVUE® OASYS with Transitions™ are the first-ever contact lens to transition in reaction to light. After a highly successful initial launch, Johnson & Johnson Vision (JJV) learned that eye care professionals had trouble describing the product benefits to their patients, so they weren’t prescribing it. To rectify this, JJV needed to educate and empower optometrists, and help them understand why OASYS provides superior vision.

FDA regulations do not permit contact testing at trade show conferences. So, how could JJV give eye care professionals the chance to experience the transition for themselves?

For the American Academy of Optometry’s (AAO) annual meeting, we created the Photochromic Teleportal, an immersive and interactive video experience that allows optometrists to see what the world looks like with and without the transition lenses. Using a mix of video, music and vibration, we transported optometrists to different destinations to educate them on the product’s three major benefits.

Impact

Over three days, 412 doctors experienced the Teleportal and over 75% reported that the experience was helpful – indicating that they were more likely to prescribe OASYS to their patients.
