A space where people could tap into their inner child, explore and play freely with elements of design.

Canva empowers the world to design. To make a splash announcing their arrival in the EMEA market and celebrate the opening of their London HQ, Canva launched an immersive activation at the heart of London, featuring Canva founders Mel, Cliff, and Cam. The event served as a pivotal opportunity for Canva to engage with and educate the local community, articulate its mission and vision for the market, and generate substantial media coverage and excitement throughout the EMEA region.

Creativity and self-expression can be a bit scary. To break through fears and teach new skills, we created a space where people could tap into their inner child, explore and play freely with elements of design.

To remove barriers to learning and connection, we created an interactive “Canva Studio” pop-up, effectively bringing elements of Canva to life in the real world. The immersive experience included bookable how-to sessions and fostered an environment that encouraged creativity and collaboration. The studio served as a communal gathering place for Canva enthusiasts looking to mutually educate, assist, and inspire one another. And Canva experts were on hand to impart new design skills, while fans found a dedicated space to express their #canvalove online through their social channels.

In a whirlwind six-week journey, we designed and crafted an immersive space that embraced Canva’s official step into the European market. Echoing Canva’s strategy “Do The Most Good”, we formed meaningful partnerships with HELLO LOVE and Bloom Hospitality, and enlisted the extraordinary talents of Geo Law, a renowned London-based illustrator, to design event specific artworks including a custom posca mural and design assets.

Impact

The Canva Studio received 1,200 live attendees over three days and over 13,000 unique views on the Canva Studio London viewing page. It also generated over 300K in organic reach with a 300% increase in UK-based clickthrough rate on paid socials.
